# 1 The base sticker price was 290,000 DM.
# 2 There at least 6 Right Hand Drive Flatnose cars.
# 3 There are two Flatnose cars in Hong Kong. VIN 470395 and an Unidentified Black car.
# 4 VIN 470250 is a Speed Yellow Flatnose purchased in Kuwait but the buyer passed away
before taking delivery. The car was then exported to Oman
and was subsequently wrecked.
# 5 There is a Black Flatnose orginally located in Qatar and subsequently exported to Germany. Originally rumored to be VIN 470456 this VIN has been disputed.
# 6 There may be a Flatnose in Dubai and another in Saudi Arabia. One of these may be the Grand Prix White car shown under the Unidentified ROW Cars section.
# 7 The Guards Red Car with Black TechArt air inlet/fog lights was the factory prototype and photos of this car were the ones sent to dealers in the USA to show prospective customers the car. The car is shown above on this page and under the Unidentified ROW Cars section.
# 8 VIN 470387 may be one of only two Flatnose cars sold in England. The other may be owned by the Sultan of Brunei. It was originally delivered to the UK in Polar Silver Metallic but was stripped to bare metal and painted Black Metallic prior to customer delivery. The original owner won the car as a prize for being the highest performing currency exchange dealer at his bank, but never drove the car prior to selling it some eight months later.
# 9 VIN 470466 was the only Flatnose imported into Switzerland
# 10 A Black unindentified RHD Flatnose is located in Indonesia. The car was imported into Indonesia from a RHD drive country (Hong Kong, Austrialia, or Singapore) as a 'Volkswagon Beetle' in order to circumvent Indonesian importation restrictions on exotic cars in effect in the mid 1990's. Possibly smuggled in with diplomatic papers, the plastic VIN tab located beneath the gas tank has been modified to a display a 'donor' VW VIN in order to obtain an ownership registration. # 11 A Speed Yellow Flatnose is located in Indonesia. The car is shown under the Unidentified ROW Cars section.
# 12 VIN 470453 was a 'special order' Flatnose with 930 style rear air vents, a 3.8RS rear wing, Recaro seats and a rollcage (it must be noted that all of these special parts were standard items on the X83 'Japan' models of these cars).
# 13 VIN 470438 was originally sold in Asia and then imported into the UK.
# 14 There are an unidentified number of X88 engine optioned standard 3.6 models. These cars consumed some of the 62 X88 engines (a total 155 X88 engines were built) not used in the X83/X84/X85/Package series cars. VIN 470304 located in the UK is an example of one of these cars.
